The rapid explosion of information in our world presents both immense opportunity and critical challenges for society. Instant and ubiquitous information is a powerful driver for innovation and holds the promise of technological advances that can promote prosperity, enhance human well-being, and avert our looming environmental crisis. At the same time, the distribution of data ownership and access to information have threatened important human values, redefined power, and challenged democracy. In winter of 2023, Leadership for Society Conversations will explore this topic further through a series of discussions with leaders from a variety of sectors.
